    Three and a half years ago All Digital member association LANGAS Į ATEITĮ and partners launched the project “ Connected Lithuania : an Efficient, Secure and Responsible Lithuanian Digital Community” (Connected Lithuania) and set an ambitious goal - to help the LT population to improve their digital skills and learn to use ICT and the Internet efficiently, safely and responsibly. At the finish line the project achieved delightful results - more than 104 thousand adults of LT voluntarily attended the courses to improve their digital skills.     National stakeholders and the European Commission have joined forces to create the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform to accelerate digital upskilling in Europe. The platform, being unveiled today, will become a unique reference point for digital skills enabling all Europeans – citizens, businesses and public organisations – to make the most of the digital transformation of our society and economy. The platform will function jointly with the 25 national coalitions for digital skills and contribute to reaching the EU’s Digital Decade targets.

    What was the primary goal of this project? To offer a platform for public servants to test and improve their digital skills. These competences are crucial when high quality digital services are needed (especially in times like the COVID-19 pandemic). Why was such platform needed?     On 8 December 2017 Digital Skills and Jobs Coalition Conference was held in Brussels, where also attended representatives from Lithuania National Digital Coalition, Ministry of Transport and Communications and Digital Champion of Lithuania. During the conference European Commissioner for the Digital Economy and Society Mariya Gabriel outlined her vision for future digital skills policy in Europe.     July 3rd-4th, 2017, the 4th European Conference on Social Media was held at Mykolas Romeris University (MRU). The Welcome Address and Opening Speeches were delivered by Conference and Programme Chairs: MRU Prof. Aelita Skaržauskienė and MRU Research and Innovation Support Centre Head Dr. Nomeda Gudelienė. Lithuanian Robotics Association Director Dr. Edgaras Leichteris discussed, Society in the Cloud: What’s the Future of Digitalisation? Academics and researchers from over 40 countries attended and made presentations.

    The European Commission is launching the second European Digital Skills Awards. Companies and other organizations are invited to submit projects they have implemented to improve digital skills in Europe for the awards. The best 4 projects designed at improving the digital skills of citizens, the labour force, ICT professional and in education will receive an award.

    The bi-annual event “Computer Days 2017” (“Kompiuterininkų dienos 2017”), organized by Lithuanian Computer Society (LIKS) took place on 21-22 September at Kaunas Faculty of Vilnius University.     Girls in Smart Tech (GIST) is one of the greatest programs in Lithuania for empowering young girls in technologies from secondary schools to universities. The Program is initiated by Smart Tech Academy. Smart Tech Academy has partners in all Europe for one purpose – to make a growth of young girls joining technology sector and studies in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Maths) fields.     Rural Internet Access Points Association, a member of the Digital Skills and Coalition for Jobs in Lithuania, has been organising summer camps for children and teens (10-14) for the second year in a row. 100 active kids took part in the camp activities in a lovely out of town place Kurtuvėnai, Šiauliai district.
